ACTION ALERT: Update Your Autodesk TLS to 1.2 BEFORE 8/3/19

Please note, not ALL customers are affected by this TLS update.  Please read this blog in its entirety and click the links to see EXACTLY which software and version will be affected.  If you don’t have those versions, you will not be affected.

 

If you are running 2014, 2015, 2016, or 2017 versions of Autodesk software, this information pertains to you.

You have until AUGUST 3, 2019 to act.

Issue:

Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0/1.1 is vulnerable to main-in-the-middle (MITM) attack that can compromise data exchanges.  This applies to single-user subscribers using the following products – customers using software or versions not listed and customers using perpetual or multi-user (network) licenses will not be affected.  This also impacts some cloud-connected features of products such as Revit, Dynamo Studio, etc.

Environment:

Since user subscribers are impacted with a selection of Autodesk software used on Windows, Mac, and Linux versions 2014, 2015, 2016, and/or 2017.  For products such as Revit, all versions (2014-2020) are potentially impacted, depending on the cloud-connected features used.

Solution:

To align with industry best practices for security and data integrity, Autodesk Identity Services will move to Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.2 and stop supporting TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1. on AUGUST 3, 2019.

The best solution to avoid connectivity issues is to download and install a newer version of your software through your Autodesk Account.  Failing to apply these patches may result in interrupted software access and connectivity.

  • How is it fair that this is UN-Categorized and only given (1) day notice?

    People that bought this software will need IT help to even upgrade software which is more than one day of work. This should have more time available

    • Thanks for your comment. We appreciate your feedback. If you did not receive an email from Autodesk, it is likely that you will not be affected. Please reference the links in the blog to see which products (and versions) are specifically affected.

    • Those customers who are affected starting getting emails from Autodesk directly back in May. Our email and this blog post is just a reminder for everyone.

  • Fully Agree #2!!!! It may be true one of my products is unaffected, but it appears REVIT is across the board and I received no notices for REVIT.
    A little more time please!

    • As mentioned in the blog, Autodesk is telling Partners that notifications went out to customers who would be affected back in May. We’ve been working thru this issue all day with numerous customers and it appears many may not have received notice. Very unfortunate and we apologize we were not able to pass this info along sooner.

      • It looks like I found a fix for the 2018 REVIT dated May 2019. That seems to be enough for my single seat to be updated for the TLS issue. Thank you for the heads up.
