Autodesk Inventor: Showing Extended Names
Posted on September 29, 2014 by Mark Lancaster, Synergis Product Support Specialist:
When you look at the Inventor browser tree of a part file you created, do you ever say to yourself “How was this part created?”
By looking at this example, can you tell me what Extrusion 9, 10 and 11 were composed of? Yes I know you probably need to see the actual model…
Anyway, the reason for my article is to inform you of a browser tree filter that provides additional information (in the tree) regarding your features. I learned about this filter awhile back and thought it was useful at that time. However, I haven’t used it recently and was only reminded of it when I came across “15 Top CAD Tips…” by Paul Munford.
In order to show the extended information about your features, simply select the “filter” button in the browser tree and enable “Show Extended Names”.
Now the Inventor browser tree indicates additional information about my features and gives me a quick insight in how they were created.
Until next time.
